Well this is has been an interesting day.

I's like to know what Deviant art's ettiquette policy is on when people disgreard what an artist says about their work.

I tried to put two of my pieces into a group but they got declined, I asked why thinking it was because I had used some stock backgrounds but I checked and found that a lot of other artists were using them in the same group.

No the problem was the people I had drawn, they claimed that because I had used doll bases, I had not put enough effort in.

Here's the thing......I didn't use any doll bases in my work. All the poses I had drawn were done my me, not copying from anything, and i cleaned the lines up in Illustrator.

I said this but they just said it was pointless to argue with me and that they weren't going to bother with me.......

I dunno. To me that just feels really quite rude that I am artist and I've just clarified that no I haven;t used bases but they've just completely disregarded what I said and basically told me that they weren't going to speak to me about it.

So they still think I used a base, which really ticks me off as why would I lie?

I left the group, as quite frankly to be told that I'm lying about my work and the way they ended the conversation, especially when they've made the wrong assumption, put me off that group.

Especially when it took me a good week to do one piece because of all the different body poses I had to draw.

I dunno....

What is the etiquette for this on deviantart? What's everyone else's thoughts?

unfortunatly people can just be jerks. there's been times i have felt very detached from fandoms due to things that some of them deem 'unsuitable' but there are other billabongs to dip your feet into without the salties  to nip at your heels. (excuse my australian slang so to speak)

refernces are important, they need to remember that and sadly there are some who just have no idea and think art that has none is 'pure' personally as someone who has occasional had to screen shot my sims doing an action i want so i can get the right perspective or behavior for me to use as a refence point to plan a charcters pose around then there's no shame in it, as im still creating something original with that refernce as a base.

i'd stress less and move on and keep up the work. eventually they will wonder why fans don't bother with them anymore.
